“Since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defences of peace must be constructed.” (Preamble to the Constitution of UNESCO)
stART’s approach to its work and its activities we see as peace-work. They create opportunities for everyone involved to reflect on how they relate to themselves, to others and to the world at large, and to change or develop those relationships.
Thus we see ourselves as artists of social change.
We don’t give answers to particular situations, but make spaces available, wherein suffering and fragility can be recognised, local and systemic resources can be found and utilised, and challenges can be seen as potential for future development.
On this basis we support people, especially children, who have suffered the effects of war, of having to flee their homes, of natural disasters and social upheavals. We accompany them a part of the way towards their restoring their own physical and mental stability, and achieving their own dynamic balance.
These are steps on a path towards a peaceful future for all.
